Maple poetry

The beautiful vine maple outside our building had about half its branches snapped off in the heavy snow yesterday. I’m grieving for the tree’s pain. I hope the remainder can survive. I’ve always admired that tree for its lush branches that house so many other organisms. From the moss & lichen to the chickadees that perched and hunted.

Maple branches down
Worlds collapsed in the snow
Green, brown, white: twisted.
