April 27th’s poem

I’m back from the wilds! The last few April NaPoWriMo will be going up over the next couple of days. Then I should probably figure out some kind of vague posting schedule. ;-)

Husband and baby are at peace,

tucked in warm and sleepy.

Dog and I brave the spring chill,

partly for the necessity of the evening.

Partly for the feel of air on our faces,

the touch of spring’s greenery on our spirit.

Through the illuminated windows,

brief vignettes of neighbors’ home life.

Walking down the stairs,

a tired mother hauls her laundry basket.

She doesn’t look up to see me,

but I see her, know her,

know her burden.
