April 6th’s poem

Belated post … spring break has started. Even teachers get lazy over spring break. I started off attempting to make this a riff off of romantic Shakespearean sonnets but the iambic pentameter got the better of me. Rhymes are too tough for a Friday after a long week. I’ll definitely try again to tackle a real sonnet before the month ends.

Good Dog

Your sweet smile lights every room,

your mere presence makes grey days bloom.

Knowing you’re near changes bad days to good,

I would curl up with you forever if I could.

I’m lucky to be the one you sleep next to,

grateful to be so loved by wonderful you.
